Many clients find group counseling to be the most effective means of receiving support. During group therapy, clients with common concerns meet together with one or more counselors to explore a topic or experience. If you are struggling with a dependency or trying to recover from a traumatic experience or if you’re simply struggling with coming to terms with new life developments, you might be eligible for group counseling.

What Does Group Therapy Look Like?
Group therapy not only gives you quality time with a licensed professional, it also allows you to see that you’re not alone with your struggles. Seeing other people go through the same circumstances as you can make you more comfortable talking about your experiences, make you more empathetic, and your group therapy members can also encourage you to persevere.
Usually, support groups include no more than 10 people, so the atmosphere stays intimate and everyone has an equal opportunity to share. The members of the group may go through activities together to help overcome their dependency or recover from traumas. The group therapy activities often include team-building exercises to bond the group together so they are more inclined to encourage each other and take steps to help themselves recover.
